How does a new Indian restaurant avoid being seen as “just another Indian restaurant?” The owner of Thava, recently opened at that favourite Norwood space long occupied by Toty’s, resolved this conundrum by combining the traditional cuisine of his native Kerala with the global appeal … of tapas.

The Thava guide to ordering and enjoying Indian cuisine…

aaa

Step One – Peruse the menu and start by deciding if you want to eat a certain kind of meat or if you want to go vegetarian. This will help you as you scan for options of what to eat.
aaa

Step Two – Jump to the Tapas starter section and enjoy a taste of India while we prepare your main course for you. These starters will certainly give you a taste for what is to come.

aaa

Step Three – Decide if you want your meal to have a creamy sauce, a tomato-based sauce or not much sauce at all. Each recipe can usually be cooked with any variety of meat or vegetables. If you want to try a combination of sauce and meat that isn’t on the menu, ask if they will make it special for you.

aaa

Step Four – Ask your waiter what ingredients are in the dish and how it is prepared. Also feel free to ask him what he thinks of the dish. He’s tasted most of what’s on the menu and has a good idea of what others order as well.

aaa

Step Five – Finish your meal off with a choice of deserts from our desert trolley or a specialty coffee of your liking

aaa

Step Six – Hurry back, we miss you already!.
